Music Accompanist

 

The Music Accompanist coordinates and implements the music ministry as a form of worship to enhance the spiritual life of Arlington Street United Methodist Church.

(1) Worship Planning and Accompaniment: The Music Accompanist works closely with the Pastor to plan and lead the worship music on Sundays and for special services during the year including Christmas and Easter. The music portion of the worship service typically consists of prelude, hymns, responses, offertory, anthem, and postlude, played on the piano.

(2) Choir: The Music Accompanist works with the choir to plan and select appropriate selections for the music ministry. The Music Accompanist will accompany the choir during choral music offerings; frequency of choral participation may vary.

 

 

Specific Responsibilities of the Music Accompanist:

· Practice and prepare on your own desired schedule to meet requirements.ï

‚· Meet with the choir as required to rehearse choral selections. The frequency and logistics of rehearsal will be developed

   as the accompanist becomes familiar with the music ministry.ï‚

· Develop and maintain an annual schedule to forecast vacations and other absences.ï‚

· Work with the Pastor to arrange for a substitute when planning to be absent.ï‚· Work with the choir to research music

   selections for anthems and special services such as Christmas and Easter.Specific Responsibilities of Church:ï‚

· Maintain instruments in best possible condition and tune.ï‚

· Provide church access for music storage, rehearsals, and other music department needs.

· Include music and instrument maintenance in annual church budget.
